The search for good Chinese/Asian food in Charleston is difficult. However, a trip to the Red Orchids can solve the problem. I’ve visited Red Orchids several times and always find Tony, the owner, present and making everyone comfortable.
Their spring rolls are excellent as are their soups and other appetizers. You may also want to try their steamed pork buns. Traditional Chinese dishes with a Red Orchids twist also are quite pleasant. I particularly like the dish Pork and Celery, which isn’t on the menu, but on most occasions the chef will prepare it upon request. The wine list is good as well if you care to wine and dine at lunch.
The service is quite good and efficient for those of you in a time crunch at lunch. The servers are well informed when asked to describe a dish prior to ordering.
The restaurant is located just off of Sam Rittenberg near Big Lots. Plenty of parking is available. Children are welcome and booster seats are available.
