Do You Know the Way to San Jose?

There are big changes coming to the southernfried household.

A couple of weeks ago, AOL decided that my services were no longer required. Rather, they would not be needed after I stick around for 30 days and do what I'm supposed to do for them.

Kind of awkward - I know!

No matter - I suppose, if you want to look on the bright side of things, I got an extra 30 days that a lot of people didn't get. Too bad the WARN Act didn't kick in (that's a whole other rant).

Sooo...we are now heading to the west coast for work. I should have a nice position at a new company that should be really cool (and an easy transition). DH will be looking for work - if you know of anyone who might need a senior level CRM/Great Plains/.NET programmer, do give us a shout out.

In lieu of us leaving the south - this blog will be taking even more of a food focus. I'm still so far from being a west coast girl, that I can fake the southern thing a little longer.

As a project for 2010, I'm thinking that I'd like to try my hand at some old family recipes.

While packing I came across the CD that my aunt put together of all the Herdman recipes. That's a good place to start. Most of this is German/Irish/Scotch from western Pennsylvania and lot of it just might kill you if you eat it everyday, but I think I should know how to make them for my family. After we get through the Herdman's, I'll move on to the Piazza's and then the Metzger's. Talk about a global food tour...

Anyway, keep an eye out for stuffed cabbages or lamb and mushrooms featured in the near future. (of course that will likely be after I get moved out west and have a kitchen to work in)
